Do I have to be home to receive the package? I did not pay to have someone put it together

I ordered items that were heavy, They put it by the road in front of your house, they never notify you so you can get help bringing it in.

NO. It will be left outside though, so be sure that the weather (and your neighbor) is not terrible.

Ours was left on our side porch. But I believe you can make arrangements with UPS not to leave an item if no one is home. However, I wouldn't recommend buying from them in the first place.
