Haven't really encountered scams, but just know this, Uber is all for the passenger (the one spending) and drivers are nothing to them. We are disposable commodities because they can replace us faster than a dropped potato hitting the floor. So NEVER think Uber is secure gig because your job is solely reliant on the rating system which, as other have stated, is unfair and unrealistic and a all around pain (I currently have a 4.91 after 746 trips and basically every time I drive I am paranoid my rating will drop because some loser wasn't having a good day). Plus, Uber gets boring after several months, the first 2 - 3 months was fun, I actually looked forward to it and would do it all night. Now I dread it and where I could stay out from 7 pm to 7 am on a Friday/Saturday, I can now only tolerate from 9 pm to maybe 3am. I hate driving for Uber now, but as a second job, can't beat the option of making my own hours and the extra income. Good Luck.

Yes, watch it, Uber will short you as a driver. I suggest you take a photo of every completed ride with the amount. Or even better find a better company to drive for. Renee Cooper

Don't expect to make aa much money as you see advertised unless you are willing to put in 16 hour days. Also, the rating system is not fair to the drivers. I wouldn't give up your day job to drive for Uber or Lyft. If you are trying to pay for a vacation, this is an excellent way to make some part-time money for that reason.

My friend is a Uber driver and hasn't encountered any issues. However, the practice of tripling their rates under the guise of a "surge fee" is very concerning. I will no longer use the service and will inform others of my experience accordingly.

Yes, they lie to you. Your rating will be manipulated to show lower than actual. Threatening to deactivate you is their scare tactic to enslave you as a die hard driver. And they make money chariging money for class in order not to be deactvared. They picked wrong target. I don't need that $chit to make living.

Avoid Uber. They quote the passenger a reasonable rate, and then "surge" price you at a multiplier rate of 9 times that, after you accept the fare. I had to complain to the Better Business Bureau, post multiple reviews, and asked my bank not to process a $285 payment for a $33 quote. This is not worth the time or stress.
