How I can I be sure the hotels listed on Trivago are legitimate and not scams? For example Hoteling. I have read on trip advisor some bad reviews for booking's on this site viaTrivago

Trivago is a fraud site! I have on numerous occasions verified their claimed prices by directly logging into Cleartrip and MakeMyTrip and other accounts and realised that the prices quoted on Trivago are not in keeping with the actual prices being offered by these sites!
To make matters worse a new monkey is advertising for Trivago these days! His ugly appearance and equally obnoxious ways of expressing and outrageously silly gestures and comic expressions can all together be a reason enough for not even thinking about this site!

After my experience with their shoddy site, I've never gone back. Plenty of other reliable sites out there. Spend some time on all the major ones to include Trip Advisor and Bed Bug Registry (Take any posts with a grain of salt), then try the hotel's site, then call them.
Sometimes when you call if you mention AAA member, AARP, other membership discounts, you can do very well.
Best of luck.

Hi,
I was also affected by Trivago and Hoteling so would like to know. I was left stranded at the wrong hotel due to their dodgy links and lack of transparency. Even a proper address displayed would have helped see that they linked the wrong hotel from what they listed. Hoteling stuffed it up further by listing a hotel in Orange as Anaheim, but as the addresses aren't listed before bookings, there is no way to check this

Trivago only aggregates information. If Hoteling is a scam company, that had nothing to do with Trivago. It is a meta search engine
