TomTop
Questions & Answers
I am interested in buying a hover board but I am worried it will break down. I know they are all from China. The sku is SKU: Y1412-2 Who actually manufactures it and can it be returned. Can it get here before Christmas? Any info would help. Thanks

I would never recommend buying from this company, their reputation is terrible and after buying from them myself I know why.

It is true that TomTop is a resale company and most items are made in China. But so are most items brought through you local supplier if you look. The company has a good reputation and I have never had trouble with them. Delivery normally around the 3 week make.

I cannot tell u anything about the hoverboard, but I would not buy from TomTop again. As I said in my review: I bought a wireless mouse for my laptop. It did not work. I contacted TomTop and they asked me to take it to a repair shop and offered $2 back for the repair. I said that there is no repair shop in PA where I could get it repaired. They answered every email very politely and continued to urge me to get it repaired. This series of emails continued back and forth until the time period for making a claim with eBay expired. I was out the full purchase price and still had neither any money refunded nor did I have a mouse that worked.

Most products of that nature are manufactured in China, bought in bulk and repackaged. For that reason they charge nearly 50% on top of what you may pay in the states. Plus shipping is much faster. Most of my orders have taken 3 weeks to arrive. At holiday season it could take longer but not due to Tomtop. They will ship right away and send email of tracking if you pay the extra $2 or whatever. For Christmas unfortunately you would be taking a chance it may not make it in time. And that's too bad, you will pay more to get it in time.

I have always purchased large lots of items for retail sale and have received good service. Orders usually take 3 weeks to get. If I was buying one item for Xmas I would purchase from local retailer so that I could easily return it if there were a problem.

TomTop has live chat for asking shipping questions. Standard shipping can take time. However TomTop stands behind their products. TomTop does sell on ebay where you can buy with Confidence.

Don't be tempted to use TomTop! End of! Look elsewhere, try retail or a trusted retailer who also has eBay shop. Good luck - Happy Holidays.

Doubtful you'd get it before Christmas, you'll be lucky to get it by next summer. Useless company.

The Primo Rule is: Don't buy from TomTop. The second is like unto it: If you must, don't spend over $15.
Although I cannot offer absolute evidence to prove this, it is my belief that many Chinese sellers -- including TomTop -- buy manufacturer's rejects (aka "floor sweepings") and distributor returns, dust them off and resell them to dupes with more money than intelligence (e.g., hipinwithit Americans) who don't understand their scheme... or who won't listen to the experience of others.
It was my experience that EVERY SINGLE ITEM I received from TomTop had the one of the several characteristics of a factory- or distributor-rejected part.
One should remember these rejects were already rejected (duh!) by someone else: sometimes because they flat out don't work; sometimes because they are marginally to seriously out of spec; sometimes because they are prone to 'infant mortality' failures (http://j.mp/iMort) or have a thermal or vibrational intermittency you may or may not discover before any warranty period expires.
Once again:
