Nextdoor is free, and Agencies can only post information to your neighborhood, if they have signed up with Nextdoor. They can't see what each neighborhood posts.

"... can only post information to your neighborhood..." NOT true! Not at all. My "neighborhood" grew to a part of a city and a major part of the county. I get spam from places like Key Bank and Pella Windows disguised under discussion thread topics that neighbors have started. Click the discussion on "stolen bicycle" pumped into my Eatyhlink Account, and up pops a message soliciting for Key Bank. Apparently, Nextdoor encourages their "corporate sponsors" to do this by tagging the discussion with the most posts and directing the "sponsor" to spam to the private emails of those enrolled in 'the neighborhood." It's like your phone company's selling your phone number to robocallers, and trying to convince you that you really asked for that.

Make sure to read Nextdoor's complete privacy policy. People may not be reading your information for social reasons; but, check to see what Nextdoor is allowed to know about, including your personal computer, and everything involving the use of it. I was very surprised the could be that invasive. I feel much safer on Facebook. People feel too safe on this site and often let their guard down.
