Nextdoor
Questions & Answers
How do I find out if I have been blocked from posting on the site. After the Nextdoor investigators (?) decided I had made a derogatory comment... which I felt was a comment on the behavior of someone who wanted to delete the entire IMPORTANT crime thread... I have been unable to Post. Since I am the liason to our Supervisor I would consider an action such as blocking a posting intrusive. [email protected]

As for what Nextdoor is not, it is anything the Lead and his Realtor cronies want it to be. Conversation is only restricted when it goes against the flow of the pathetic clique that can't handle differing opinions. I have seen people call the Lead a Jackass but because they know each other and have like friends it is laughed off. The rules are whatever they decide on any given day.

Nextdoor Leads are ABUSING THEIR POWERS ON NEXTDOOR NEIGHBOR, AND NO ONE IS POLICING **THEM**. THIS HAS TO STOP... THEY ARE DISCRIMINATING AND BANNING THOSE THEY DON'T LIKE, AND SHUTTING DOWN THREADS OR DELETING COMMENTS THAT ARE IN NO WAY VIOLATIONS OF POSTING GUIDELINES. THIS HAS TO STOP! DO SOMETHING. THEY ALSO SHOULD NOT HAVE POSTING PRIVILEGES AND REMAIN "NEUTRAL"... THEY START MORE ARGUMENTS THAN THE REGULAR MEMBERS.

Barbara C., Your question is one that this common to those who believe Nextdoor.com is something it is not. It is not a forum for Free Seach, regardless of the topic, if reaches beyond the boundaries of your personal Neighborhood. ND is not for political discussions or religious or commercial activities. With that said, ND has given all Neighborhoods the Groups function that allows to have the types of discussions some want.
AS for Leads, they Can NOT restrict anyones ability to make posts. If You can not make a post then the issue lies with the Nextdoor Support Staff.
Generally they communicate their actions, more than once, to the Member before they take action. If the warnngs, they take the actions they deem proper.
As a Lead, I can make a recommendation that a Member be investigated for possible suspension or termnation. ND staff will then review current and past posts made by the Member and make a judgment. They seldom take any single incident as a reason for action, unless that incident was overly aggressive, like threats and personal attacks on other Members or the Leads.
Knowing and understanding what Nextdoor is and IS NOT, will save a lot of hardship and anger. When a Lead Removes a post or topic, it is usually that it was in breech of the ND Terms and Conditions. Just because a Lead tightly controls the T&C's, does not make them a bad person or bad Lead, they just take their volunteer job seriously and are trying to do their best.
Please take the time to read the Terms and Conditions of Nextdoor usage, most people become quite enlightened, as to what ND is NOT.
Good Luck and enjoy Nextdoor for What it is, a neighborhood place to share neighborly information and neighborhood activities!

Nextdoor is run in the capacity of a monarchy. Each lead and their adjunct appointee's run the show of their respective neighborhood. I suppose it could also be called a dictatorship in terms of censorship, albeit unethical, but it is a private and voluntary membership. Nextdoor is a clever tool for manipulators, Little Napolean's, whose influence is not democracy based.
My neighborhood has something like 200 members, many of which have been "harvested" by the lead who is a city council person, so need I say more on this travesty of free speech!? Back to the numbers; there may be a large membership, but only a small percentage actually post anything outside of "the collective" that police the site and will flag anything at all by whim. If you want to borrow a cup of sugar, that's okay, but anything even slightly controversial and you will surely be censored.

Nextdoor staff can hide any element which appears on your control panel or newsfeed. I used to be a Lead until Nextdoor decided to settle the issue of harassment by members of our HOA by handing our group over to them. Our HOA severely censors their Yahoo Group, so 240 of us started our "own" group on Nextdoor. We had Nextdoor's understanding and promise that we would remain autonomous. Shame on Nextdoor. I am now unable to log on any more, though my profile is still visible. My neighbor, who was another Lead, is in restricted mode, like you seem to be. She cannot subscribe to nearby neighborhoods, and she cannot post or "thank" anyone. These elements are simply not on the webpage any more. It's like she's a ghost in the machine. She wasn't even involved in any of the conflicts! Nextdoor knows she's my friend, and now she's being punished. Last year, because I refused to demonstrate how to hack Nextdoor's website, they removed "City Agencies" from my newsfeed, so that I no longer had access to the comments box on those messages, and thus unable to alert a wide audience of what ND had done to me. Since then, they returned that category, but comments always appear "closed" to me when they are open for my other neighbors. If you really want to subject yourself to some shameless, arrogant rationalization, feel free to write [email protected] and request an explanation. He's their "Director of Neighborhood Operations". He's the only one who answers my emails to any [email protected] because they have filters set up to keep me from reaching anyone else. It's just amazing how many ideas they have about restricting the flow of information, yet they won't build any more features into our groups to bring people together and make Lead-level administration easier.

I believe the lead is one which blocks post in general post. Any person can block you from private message... trust me it is not worth the stress... I would become a part of a neighborhood ass. If available!
