Goods shipped into Canada are ALWAYS subject to duty and customs clearing charges, in addition to provincial sales tax in the Province it is delivered to, and often an additional delivery charge by FED EX and or UPS is charged as well, not to mention the additional exchange rate since the Canadian dollar is not good against the US dollars. Its NEVER a good deal to buy from a US company and then have it shipped to Canada. Costs are considerably higher for the end product when all the customs, tax and other fees are added on. For example, if you buy something for $100 US, by the time it reaches a Canadian destination, it mostly likely double at least if not more, making it cheaper to buy in Canada. Keep in mind as well, that there is generally even a long waiting time from the time you pay for an order and actually receive it via Joss and Main.

I think all of us answering this question are customers and do not have any idea why such high mailing rates. I wish I knew what to tell you. When you are on the website see if you find an 800 number to phone them. Sorry this happens to our Canadian neighbors. Maybe. It has to do with customs requirements. Just guessing.

That is a shame... I think I would have to email the company! Everything I have ordered from Joss & Main has had Free Shipping I live in Arizona, U.S. and I am sure that makes a difference, but did not know that international to Canada would be that high! I really like this company & that seems to be the way it is... Most people Really, Really like them! Or most Really bad mouth them... I have been using them over 5 years now & can't say enough Good things about them! Really wish I could help you here.

This is not an answer of any kind. In fact, it is a poor excuse for an answer. So. I am back at sq one! YOU should be the one doing the leg work, not the customer! Jan Quigley

I have no idea why shipping rates are so high to Canada. Look it up on Google or ask your legislators or post office.
