I also won an auction yesterday. I admit that I had a moment of being excited and yes, greedy. I bid and now owe $140. I see same rings all over EBay with same gold content, etc... Going for $40 with $5 shipping.
I am so stupid. What can they do to me if I don't pay? They don't have my credit card info.

Look before you leap, doing your research after you have bought an item at auction is not, in my opinion, ethical behavior.

They'll ban you from bidding on the site which is fine because they're rigged anyway.
