Once you respond to a person looking for child care. What happens? Does Care.com forward your info to the potential employer?

As a former paid employer, I can tell you that the info I received was dependent on the child care provider. Some of them included contact info on their profile (though that's not recommended by Care.com as Care.com would like you to keep all your interactions on their website, and they claim that you are more secure in doing so). So, if the caregiver chose, we would just message back and forth on Care.com until they felt confident enough to share more contact info with us. For us, that varied - some caregivers immediately gave us their phone number after we gave them ours. Others preferred to arrange a meeting in a public place to ensure that we weren't some crazy stalker, and then exchanged private information then. As honest parents, we were quite comfortable with the latter. We know of clear fraud perpetrated on both sides on Care.com, and the Care.com team couldn't care less, so be cautious.

When I was on Care, com as a caregiver, they would notify me of interested families and give me the info required to contact them.

I got responses through Care emails to start then just corresponded on my own with prospective employer. Did a face to face after several emails.
I get a lot of direct text messages from people seeing my profile, offering me a lot of money and telling me to email them if interested. I delete those automatically as feel they are not legit, always from somewhere else and feel they could be contacting me via email to start.
If it seems too good to be true it probably isn't real. Use common sense and be smart!

Hi! We were on the side of looking for help. Once we liked someone we sent message for phone interview and in person interview. We also could request background check that has to be accepted by the potential employee. I think the site is not bad in terms of personal information, although from disclaimers it takes no responsibility for anything.

Hi
The employer will be able to contact you directly from that initial email IF you have a paid membership.
