Best thing to do is change your checking account immediately. They used to be reachable but since they have been under investigation for a class action suit (gee, what a surprise), they have seemingly gone underground. Except to take money. They were once decent, but have become a scam. Don't expect to get your money back. Sorry to say, but it's the truth.

Care.com is a scam! You have to dispute the card with your bank. They kicked me off the website as a babysitter because I refused to pay their outrageous fees!

The "my wife died" is a common scam story that tugs at your heartstrings to reel you in. Always ask the so-called employer for THEIR references.

Yeah, it's a scam. In my experience the more complicated a 'setup' the more likely it is that it's a scam. People JUST NEVER give you their life story when they want a house cleaner, that's me or a nanny your daughter. If she wants a job as a nanny tell her to ask around her friends or their sisters if THEY know of any working nannies and ask how they got the jobs. The best way is through school, college or friends when you're a young person. It's the safest. I have clients who are college lecturers- they work long hours and so do their spouses.

On care.com, I remember there was a way to block anyone you chose. You would need to be signed into your account and their was an option to block individuals. It may have changed - but that is how it was a couple years back.

Yes--I'm afraid a refund is out of the question. Unless legal action renders us who have been charged without notice all plaintiffs.
