I have used Booking.com several times and my recent stay in Cartagena, Colombia was just as planned. I was not charged any hidden fees and paid using a credit card.

I used Booking the room went down in price by a total of $150 and they would not budge about it. It was total run around. When I got to my hotel I spoke with the manager directly and they refunded me the charge. Look at the hotel directly sometimes the price is the same or better

Normally they list all the fees. There should be no hidden fees. A lot of resorts charge a daily reort fee but that is normally mentioned and included in the rates quoted by booking.com
Booking.com has changed some of their cancelation policies and improved the sites booking process since my last set of scathing comments.
Same day bookings after 4pm or next day bookings now start to reflect the correct dated vs changing them in tbe past. Management has fixed this problem. I am told it is still hard to get refunds as they move this responsibility in to the hotel. THEY DO EARN A FEE FROM EACH HOTEL BOOKING.

Just make sure there isn't a resort fee. I have paid as little as $14 and as much as $50. Usually your confirmation e-mail will have the info, or you can call hotel directly.

Never had a hidden fee. Others they ask for initial down payment then the rest will be 1 wk prior your arrival.

Never had any hidden fees for the booking, however local taxes and in one occasion a parking fee was added.

Yes, for high-end resorts that charge a "resort fee". Like when you go to Hawaii or Vegas.
