I tried 12 times to cancel my subscription and there is a thing called,"cancellation wizard" which they use to suck 25 extra dollars out of your pocket... Is there anyway to speak with a human from ancestry? Is there anyway to avoid the cancellation wizard. I have left messages on the 1-800 number and it still gets taken out of my charge account monthly

This is ridiculous that it is so hard to cancel. I had to "trick them"!

1) I chose the upgrade option on the 1800 number.
2) Then I was able to speak with a live representative and after she grilled me about "why " I wanted to cancel, she finally just canceled it.
3) I then got a confirmation number for the cancelation.

But, honestly, they are such scammers that I would not be surprised if they still charge me and I have to dispute the charge. I never comment on post like these but I am so angry with them and I hope this helps someone else who is being taken advantage of! Peace!

Just cancel your credit card and have your bank or Credit Union send you out a new one. Youre just going to waste hours of your precious time for nothing. They have no idea what Customer Service is. Its just another scam to get more of your money.

They will not give any refunds. I paid by the year, which is cheaper per month. I have less than a month left, but I know that they will not give any refunds. Go straight to your credit card company and tell them. That is the only way to cut off Ancestry from auto-debiting your account.

I took my credit card info., as much as I could from their site and sent t feedback that they are not to attempt to charge it again. I am not dumb enough to ask for a refund, as I can not get them to stop pilfering with my tree! Back to square one with the tree as it is so absurdly distorted that it is not worth trying to correct "Ancestry's Version

I can only imagine that Credit Card companies are being overwhelmed with those who want to cancel their Ancestry.com subscriptions. As I understand it you have to let your subscription run out for whatever length of time you committed to. Probably a few lawsuits are forthcoming!

The number I use to speak to a rep at Ancestry.com is 800-262-3787. That 800-401-1601 number is no good.

Like I said in my original post, this company operates as a scam. They are thieves - plain and simple. They will continue to be thieves until they give me what I paid for.

Sorry, but I would not know what else to do other than stay on the line to talk to a customer service representative or to send ancestry.com an e-mail!

I'm sorry. This company seems to have lost all integrity. Don't pay to cancel your subscription. Stay on the phone til you can talk to someone. They are overloaded because so many people are disappointed with them. If they charge you a fine more is report them to the BBB. I would anyway.

Talk to the bank about charging it back to them.
